GEMMA Systems implemented the Infor VISUAL IS in 2014. Mr. Stanislav Novák, Technical Deputy Manager, comments: “We have been running VISUAL in routine mode now. From the very beginning, we have been using a major part of the IS functionality, letting the system manage most of our business processes and handle some problematic points, like the utilization of iron plate and round iron remainders for example. This requires careful registering of the remainders inclusive storing of the shapes of those remainders in graphical form, with just one objective: maximum utilization of usable material remainders. The IS thus helps us efficiently reduce blocked funds by reducing inventory levels and unnecessary material purchases.”
Infor VISUAL Functionality in PŽSK
The Infor VISUAL IS handles all essential company procedures and operations. In Sales modules, the users create quotations that are then automatically converted into production orders. Orders received from customers constitute a basis for production as well as for subsequent shipping and invoicing of final products. In engineering modules, the users create bills of material and routings that constitute a basis for production and resource scheduling (machines, teams and employees) and for workstation buffer filling.
The PŽSK use the functionality of the Material Planning module that automatically plans material supplies for production operations based on scheduled deadlines. The module also handles planning of purchase orders, controls inventory levels inclusive reporting surpluses and checking minimum stock levels for critical materials and semi-products. Employees use IS terminals installed right in the shop floor for real-time reporting the work completed. This barcode- and RF ID based reporting procedure significantly eliminates the occurrence of errors.
The accounting and financial functionality of the IS handles all regular and required mandatory procedures and outputs.
“We have successfully finished the initial stage of the IS implementation, users have acquired new working habits, VISUAL now contains data collected during several months of system operation, and we can now focus on further utilization of system abilities inclusive using history data to improve our production planning and management procedures”, closes Stanislav Novák.
